Venice──The Sinking Queen

When most people think of Venice, they probably imagine narrow
canals(1), pretty little bridges, and romantic(2) rides in
flat-bottomed boats. Truly, one of the best ways to view the "Queen
of the Adriatic"is from the water. However, her attractions do not
stop there. The city's one hundred islands are home to some of the
most beautiful buildings in Europe.
At the heart of Venice is St. Mark's Square. Besides the pigeons and
the tourists there, you will find St. Mark's Basilica, a beautiful
church known all around the world. The Basilica is home to many
great works of Renaissance(3) art. In fact, Venice is an art lover's
paradise(4), with priceless treasures to be found all over the city.
